Metaphor Issue zero
Metaphor Magazine is my deliverable of the independent publishing class at Emily Carr university of Art and Design.
I think metaphor is the origin of our language, everything is metaphorized by other things, everything is metaphorical of other things. This independent publication design is a publishing and printing experiment. Inspired by Haruka Murakami's book Kafka on the shore.
I extracted a few key metaphors in the novel, and visualize their context, original sources, and other applications.
The entire publication is riso printed and is wrapped in a double-sided poster. The front of the poster is very concise, only introduces the magazine name and issue number. On the back is an illustration.
I hope that readers receive less information when they watch the cover, then they can open the magazine, read the magazine, and find more interesting content and deeper meaning.
