Monologue
Monologue is an independent publication design under the charity project ZEIGEIST. The ZEIGEIST project is committed to innovating the lifestyle of elderly people in nursing homes, meanwhile improving their life quality and happiness index. The monologue belongs to the third phase of the ZEIGEIST program and is designed as a leisure book for residents live in Haro park, a local nursing house in Vancouver. After investigation, it is found that nearly half of the residents in Haro park are suffering from dementia and come from various ethnic groups, so the residents do not communicate with each other frequently.
The monologue designers recorded and compiled some important events of three residents(Ada Bernie Doreen) through interviews and interactive activities.
Inner pages
The three elders came from different places (Canada, Netherlands and Hong Kong, China) and met in Vancouver to spend the rest time of their life. Therefore, geography is the visual design concept of Monologue. The cover of this publication contains a topographic map of Vancouver, and the homepage of each resident is also a map that includes their travel footprint.
